TV, Cable, Hulu, & Everything in Between.

When Josh and I visited Virginia a few weeks ago, we met Phil.  And his TV.

Phil doesn't have cable.  No biggie.  I didn't grow up with cable.  Occasionally we would have satellite, but then a storm would blow through and the satellite would go out.  Then we'd fix it and it'd snow and the snow would collect on the satellite dish and it would go out. Then we'd sweep shovel it off and then another storm would blow through.

I think 3 times in a month was my dad's limit.  After that, we'd wait however long until someone fixed it again without setting fire to it out of frustration.

Did I mention that it wasn't one of those cute little dishes you see nowadays... it was one of those massive, alien attracting satellite dishes.  And it didn't blend in with the scenery.  It was off-white and we lived in the woods.  It was in the backyard, but we didn't have the kind of backyard where you walk out the back door and there it is... it was on a mountain.

And it was uphill both ways.  Or something like that.

I digress.  Boy did I digress.

Anywho... Phil.  Phil doesn't have cable.  And I'm cool with that.

Phil doesn't have satellite, and I'm definitely cool with that.

But what does Phil have?  How does Phil watch the super important shows that are out there just waiting for him to watch them?

Phil has Hulu.

Hulu magically hooks up to his TV and he uses Hulu Plus to watch his favorite shows that he can't live without.  And something about a Roku.

I have no idea how it all works, but I'm about to learn, because that's what we're going to try!  Sure, I can't watch live TV, but with DVR, I rarely watch it live anyway.  And if I can pay $10 a month instead of $50-100?  I'm totally game.

It's a good thing I don't mind spoilers!

So I'll let you know how it goes... the good, the bad, and the ugly, and we shall see.

*Hulu, Hulu Plus, Roku... none of those guys have any idea who I am.  I wish they did, because then maybe they'd give me the equipment for free!  At any rate, they sure aren't paying me for this.*

The Dave Ramsey Show

After work several of us headed over to Kristen's house to watch The Dave Ramsey Show.  Kristen is the only one out of the entire bunch that has Fox Business Network on her TV.  The cable guy apparently has a crush on her.

*Sidenote: I have learned that the cable installation guy has a lot of control over things, and if you bat your eyes enough, they'll give you more channels, or at least a DVR.*

Not that Kristen batted her eyes.  And she didn't ask for more channels.  Which is why I think the cable guy clearly has a crush on her.

I digress.  As usual.

The anticipation begins...

Josh and I were really nervous.

It was my first national television debut.  Josh's 2nd.

He was on CMT a few years back.

Mainly because he's awesome and Sarah Evans thought so, too.

That's us!  Goofy grins, cheesy smiles and all!

Dave Ramsey is pretty much my hero because he's so consistent with his advice.  You know exactly what he is going to say because it never changes.

This is where Josh was talking about his truck almost getting repossessed.  It didn't, and we sold it promptly.  That kick started this whole thing 3 years ago.

What was the one debt that you were so glad to pay off?

CHASE!!!  It was our first credit card we paid off and we were so glad because our interest rate had been 30%!!  2 years later, another credit card we were paying off was bought out by Chase.  So we were writing checks to Chase again.  It was one of the last debts we paid.

I never want to see the name Chase again.

And no... we're not naming any kids Chase.

WE'RE DEBT FREE!!!!!!

Dave Ramsey Show

Don't forget to watch

The Dave Ramsey Show

tonight at 8:00pm

on Fox Business Network

to see yours truly look like a fool on camera.

A debt free fool, that is!

I'm also really, really hoping they edited it well.

If we look like fools, you'll know they couldn't edit it out.  If we don't, then we can thank the editors!

PS: I think it's kind of funny that Josh and I don't get that channel because we only get the basic cable.  We only get basic cable because we've been working towards being debt free, and it's cheaper.

Ironic, eh?

That's okay, we have a friend & co-worker who just moved into her apartment and although she only asked for basic cable, she magically ended up with 300 channels.

That's what I'm talking about!

Don't you dare miss it!

You are cordially invited to join us (in spirit)

and watch

The Dave Ramsey Show!

Tomorrow night.

Friday 8:00pm

Fox Business Network

Watch me and Josh get all nervous and smile a lot while we talk with Dave Ramsey.

I smiled.

A lot.

It's about 5 minutes of fame, which means I've still got 10 minutes left!  How exciting is that?

(you'll get that later)

These kids started getting out of debt:

And these kids finished it!

We lost a lot of hair during this process.

Biggest Loser. *SPOILER ALERT*

This is the first year I've watched The Biggest Loser.  I was shocked at the transformations!  And embarrassed.  A few of the ladies are now smaller than me.

In fact, I'm downright jealous of Sherry.  119 pounds?  Really?  That's not how much she lost... that's how much she weighs!

And honestly, I didn't care who won... I loved all of the top three: Michael, Ashley, & Daris.  I think they all had amazing changes going on both on the inside and out.  They came pretty weak and left three incredibly strong human beings.

The one question I have, though...

What's up with Michael & Ashley?

I mean... they have to be dating.

Or denying the fact that they have totally fallen for each other.

Normally I'm not all about reality TV love.  The Bachelor ruined that for me.

But they're kinda cute together.

And... dare I say it?  Was he undressing her with his eyes?

Um... I believe that's what I saw.

I haven't seen a... uhh... "connection" like that since Blake Shelton & Miranda Lambert sang "You're the Reason God Made Oklahoma" back in 2005.
