This is Pet Faces week over at I Heart Faces! I have a zillion pictures of my pets, but none outside of the box. However, this is my sweetie pie, Jigsaw. Perhaps I'm not supposed to have a favorite pet (we have 3 altogether), but Jigsaw is hands down my favorite.
He was born while I was on an 8th grade field trip to Washington, DC. I had been promised the "pick of the litter" and just knew my brother's dog was going to have her puppies while I was out of town. Sure enough, he was born, and before I got back home, my dad had picked him out and named him.
I tried to protest and say I was going to pick another puppy instead, since it was, after all, going to be my dog. But I love my dad, and how could I possibly reject a sweet little puppy that had already been chosen? So I kept him. And his name, Jigsaw, because he had two white spots on his back that looked like pieces to a jigsaw puzzle.
Sure, he's been in fights, has scars all over his snout, but he is my sweetie. I say he was my "original man" because he was there before my first boyfriend and now I'm married. If I start to cry, he'll come from across the house to cuddle with me (even though he's not a cuddler), just for comfort.
I love this dog, and that's why I chose him for Pet Faces week. He's like the snuggly teddy bear that you will always hold dear to your heart. Here's to 10.5 wonderful years with him, and praying for many more to come!
