Lessons from a car repair place.

I have quite a bit of experience in car repair places.  That doesn't mean I know a durn thing about cars, but it does mean I've spent countless hours frustrated beyond belief.

But yesterday I went to a new place.  It was a repair job that my normal place couldn't do, so a friend suggested this place.  Generally, I get so full of anxiety that I'm in tears and ready to hit the loony bin by the time I leave with a quote.  But not this time.  Why?

He had a Bible verse on the rug as you walked in.  "Walk by faith, not by sight. 2 Corinthians 5:7"

I'd read that verse, even knew songs about it (Jeremy Camp, if you're interested).  But for some reason, it sunk in.

It sounds so silly, I'm sure, but with my car, I have to walk by faith, not by sight.  With pretty much everything I do, have to live by faith, and not by what I see around me.  Good grief, if I lived by what I see around me, it would be a sad, depressing life.

I have faith that God is going to take care of me car-wise.  Whether it's providing another car, or fixing this one, or maybe even both(!), or maybe neither, but a completely different solution... He's going to take care of me.

What is it in your life that you have to (or should be) living by faith, and not by sight?

Raising twins. I have faith that God is going to give us wisdom...cause I don't have a fat clue.

Walk by faith and not by sight would work well with my car right now. It was "totalled" by the huge Hail Storm my town had 2 weeks ago. The insurance adjustor said the damages would cost more than the car is worth. We can't afford a new-to-us vehicle right now...We haven't even started saving up for one bc it's not a priority for the moment. We're not done having kids yet, and whenever we decide the time is right to have another one (or God decides, actually) we're going to have to get a bigger vehicle. So they're going to let me continue to drive my physically beat up "totalled" car and still keep it on the insurance and are only going to take $900 off the original "totalled, turn it in to insurance pay off" So we're going to put that money up, and start saving a little bit each month until we can pay cash for a bigger vehicle. So my car may not look like much (NOT BY SIGHT), but I believe God will continue to let it run (BY FAITH) until we are ready to pay CASH for a new-to-us vehicle :)

let me clarify:
if we turn my car over to the insurance co. they will pay us $5800
if we keep it, they pay us $4900
hence the $900 difference I mentioned in teh previous post
